GAO: Adoption Tax Credit Needs a Comprehensive Educational Outreach Plan

On August 11, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report that recommended that the IRS should develop an educational outreach plan to help adoptive families learn more about the credit, their eligibility, and other requirements, particularly after changes were enacted by Congress in July 2025.
