Meet the Gray Family!
"We love, we forgive, we cherish."
Christina Karsen Gray and Justin Gray have built a cohesive family by giving birth to two children and subsequently adopting three more. Their youngsters are: Trenton, age 16; Zoe, 11; GraceAnne, 6; and Edward, 10 months. The Grays had another son, Dillian, who passed away at age 2. The couple’s interest in adoption was sparked by friends they made in the military. Upon their return from their second tour of duty in Iraq, the couple decided to explore foster care. Christina recalls, “We gave our family a year for the four of us to adjust. Then we submitted our paperwork. Just three days later we received our first foster child.” The Grays went on to foster a number of children, including GraceAnne, who arrived at age 6 months and never left. ”We were blessed to adopt GraceAnne.”
The Grays’ embrace extends beyond their immediate family. “We love, we forgive, we cherish. We understand that our gain is someone else's loss. We are not only parenting a child with trauma, but
accepting that many of their parents also suffer from their own trauma.”The Grays agree on their view of adoption. “It is scary but so worth it. Not only has adoption changed the outcome of life for the child, but it has positively impacted everyone in our family, friends of our family, and members of our church. It has a ripple effect.”
