Membership Spotlight: Kinship Center: Seneca Family of Agencies - VFA Organizational Member

Voice for Adoption has been lucky enough to have the Kinship Center: Seneca Family of Agencies as organizational members since 2007. Since its birth in 1984 Kinship Center has been based in California. In 2011 Kinship Center teamed up with another non profit focused on youths called Seneca Center giving Kinship Center their new name; Kinship Center: Seneca Family of Agencies. The following year Canyon Acres joined their team creating a trifecta of agencies that serve children and families throughout the state.

Kinship Center built their organization on the mission of being “committed to the core belief that every child deserves a family, Kinship Center provides the full spectrum of family- centered support to strengthen the families and communities we serve”. They hope to accomplish this mission by creating permanent homes through adoption, kinship care, and guardianship. Along with these programs Kinship Center offers therapeutic foster care, mental health services, intensive support for families in crisis, prevent programs, and education/training for parents and professionals. Through these services they help 2,500 children annually giving special attention to those whom are deemed “difficult” children. With 50,000 children in need of a family in California the Kinship Center works to give them the stability that they need.
