House Passes Recruiting Families Using Data Act
On March 4, the House passed legislation (H.R. 579) that would establish new state planning and data collection requirements for state foster and adoptive parent recruitment. The bill is identical to legislation (H.R 3058) that was passed by the House in the last Congress but was not acted on in the Senate. VFA’s State Advisory Council approved its own foster and adoptive parent recruitment recommendations late last year. Although the bill was substantially aligned with those recommendations, some states were concerned about the bill’s lack of funding to meet the new requirements. Voice for Adoption joined the National Foster Parent Association, a VFA member, in supporting this bill. We will work to address the related funding concerns when it is considered in the Senate.
