Meet Our Policy Associate Intern Haley Resnick

Haley Resnick, a Policy Associate Intern at Voice for Adoption.

My name is Haley Resnick, and I am a sophomore at Georgetown University, originally from New York City. I am double majoring in History and American Studies and considering a potential minor in Education, Justice, and Inquiry. On campus, I am a captain of the Georgetown Moot Court Team, a staff writer for one of Georgetown's school newspapers, The Hoya, and the treasurer for Stride for College, a mentorship program for high school students. In my (minimal) spare time, you can find me playing guitar, writing stories, or playing with my cat Penny.

Since arriving at Georgetown last fall, I have come to recognize the importance of education and, unfortunately, how many students in the United States lack an education of quality. My summer internship with the Yleana Leadership Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the achievement gap, further cemented my interest in reforming education. Although Voice for Adoption will take my path in a slightly different trajectory, I recognize that a good education begins with a good home environment, something that those needing to be adopted or in the foster care system often lack. In the same way race or economic status should not be a barrier to education, neither should one being in foster care. I am grateful to be working with Voice for Adoption and contributing to its incredible mission while bettering children's lives everywhere.
