Voice for Adoption advocates for improved adoption
and child welfare policies to remove barriers to adoption for
children in foster care who are waiting for permanent families
and provide support for adoptive families.
For 2008, Voice for Adoption continues to hold post-adoption
services as its top advocacy priority. We are also working actively
to promote a wide range of improved adoption laws and policies
to help waiting children in foster care find permanent, loving
families and to support adoptive families.
Voice for Adoption has endorsed many important bills that have been introduced in the 110th Congress. We strongly support the following bills:
- Adoption Equality Act (HR 4091 / S 1462 )
- Foster Care Continuing Opportunities Act (S 1512)
- Foster Care Mentoring Act of 2007(S 379)
- Improved Adoption Incentives and Relative Guardianship Support Act of 2008 (S 3038)
- Kinship Caregiver Support Act of 2007(HR 2188 / S 661)
- Medicaid Foster Care Coverage Act of 2007(HR 1376)
- To amend part E of title IV of the Social Security Act to increase payments to States for expenditures for short term training of staff of certain child welfare agencies (HR 2314)
- Tribal Foster Care and Adoption Act of 2007(HR 4688 / S 1956)
- White House Conference on Children and Youth in 2010 Act (HR 5461/ S 2771)
